Originally from Markham, Canada, Alex began playing piano, guitar, bass, and drums early on. Raised on a diet of AC/DC and the Stones, he shifted gears to double bass to attend a high school arts program. Playing with symphony orchestras and composing for large ensembles expanded his ears and sight reading ability, laying the foundation for a life in music.
Alex attended Berklee College of Music on a scholarship, studying with teachers including Bruce Bartlett, David Tronzo, and David Fiuczynski. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2022 with a BM in Guitar Performance and Contemporary Writing & Production. At Berklee, he played student film scoring sessions, performed and arranged for the 2022 Commencement Concert at Agganis Arena, and received both the William Leavitt and Hyatt Awards.
Now based in New York City, Alex has been the guitar chair of the Off-Broadway hit Titanique since November 2022, racking up over 500 performances. He performed with the cast on Late Night with Seth Meyers. In 2024, he started touring with Mark Ambor, playing guitar and bass across North America and Europe. With Mark, Alex played the 538 Koningsdag Festival (Netherlands) to 40,000 people, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Today Show, and Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks. Alex co-produced Mark’s Billboard Hot 100 charting cover of Run Rudolph Run.
As an educator, Alex has led clinics at Berklee and maintains a private teaching studio. He recorded the guitar tracks for Yamaha Music Japan’s Arranging for Contemporary Music textbook by Lee Abe.
