Bio

Shapeshifting between genres, instruments, and roles, Alex’s work reflects a unique musical upbringing of diverse experiences.

Originally from Markham, Canada, Alex started learning piano, guitar, bass, and drums at a young age. Raised on a steady diet of AC/DC and the Rolling Stones, he shifted gears to double bass, which he learned to attend a high school classical arts program. Playing with symphony orchestras and composing for large ensembles expanded his ears and sight reading ability. By the end of high school, Alex was set on a life in music.

Alex attended Berklee College of Music on a scholarship, studying with teachers including Bruce Bartlett, David Tronzo, and David Fiuczynski. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2022 with a BM in Guitar Performance and Contemporary Writing & Production. On Professor Tronzo’s recommendation, he recorded numerous student film scoring sessions. Alex performed and arranged for the 2022 Commencement Concert, selling out the 7,200 capacity Agganis Arena. He received the Guitar Department’s William Leavitt Scholarship and the Concert Department’s Hyatt Award.

Moving to New York City after graduating, he was immediately busy playing on the Off-Broadway musical Titanique. Taking over the guitar chair in November 2022, he has racked up over 300 performances to date, rocking the stage with a spotlighted guitar solo. Alex performed with the show as the musical guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

As an educator, Alex has conducted clinics at Berklee College of Music, and maintains an active private teaching studio. From his home studio, Alex remotely recorded the guitar tracks for Yamaha Music Japan’s Arranging for Contemporary Music textbook, by Lee Abe.

Alex is an endorsed artist with Shubb Capos and 64Audio IEMs.
